Cymao Plywood was found to be in breach of FSC rules last November. Finnforest UK initiated an investigation of the business with Greenpeace and subsequently sent back a consignment and froze future orders.

Now Cymao has joined the WWF Malaysia Forest and Trade Network (FTN) and has committed, with its Sabah log suppliers, to achieve FSC controlled wood certification.

Finnforest environment manager Rachel Butler welcomed the move.

“We’re delighted with Cymao’s commitment to the Malaysia FTN to support reinstatement of its FSC chain of custody certificate,” she said. “This provides us with the reassurance we need that its products will meet the demanding requirements of the UK market.”
