Pakistan’s North West Frontier Province government has been urged to lift a tree-cutting ban to allow the sale of trees affected by landslides and gales in the Kohistan range.
Elected representatives from Kohistan district said the ban, imposed in 1992, had forced poor people into cultivating poppies instead. They also said removing fallen trees would help tree farmers.
