Years of close collaboration between timber connector manufacturer Cullen Building Products and Trus Joist have culminated in a deal between the two companies.
Glenrothes-based Cullen, which has distribution facilities in Manchester and Norfolk, now has its products fully integrated into the TJ-Xpert software programme.
Cullen’s managing director Doug Cullen said: “The fact that Trus Joist customers can now automatically specify Cullen connectors will give them access to the innovative products and robust details for which Cullen is renowned. Our on-going programme of research and development, linked with rigorous product testing, will bring to Trus Joist customers a truly improved service.”
Recently developed products include the UI (Universal I-joist hanger) and the UZ (Universal Z-clip). The UI enables loads to be transferred without the need for backer blocks and web stiffeners, while the UZ clip can support perimeter noggings without overlapping or staggering.
Other recent innovations include the PST (parallel strap) range, which enables builders using engineered timber floors to achieve an accepted “robust detail” in compliance with the new Part L/F/J regulations on conserving fuel and energy.
