The move follows its early popularity for use with James Jones Timber Systems’ I-joist product, the JJI-Joist.
The SHI allows large MVHR services to run through the joist web, which could future-proof the construction against new Building Regulations such as heat exchange systems, ITW said.
After a design check on the joist calculations, the SHI connector can be installed almost anywhere along the I-joist as long as there is a 90mm or greater gap between the end of the joist and SHI, the company said.
