MP Robert Goodwill discussed transport infrastructure and plans to improve links and reduce the impact of timber transport on rural roads and communities.
Northumberland County Council is a partner in the North East Timber Transport Forum, which has produced a soon to be released Agreed Timber Routes Map. Kielder, the largest man-made forest in northern Europe, sits within the area.
A council spokesperson said: "In Northumberland and the north-east the forestry industry is very important to the rural economy and we are working with the industry and the Forestry Commission to look at how timber is transported."
