TRADA has put up a £75,000 prize to fund research by members’ companies as part of the association’s 75th anniversary celebrations next year.
Three or more winners will share the money and be expected to commit their own funds to an equivalent value up to £25,000, TRADA said. While the project can be for individual commercial benefit, the research must also further the use of timber and wood products.
The deadline for entries is November 15 and the winners will be announced at the chairman’s dinner on December 5.
TRADA chief executive Andrew Abbott said: “Research is essential for companies wishing to retain a long-term competitive advantage in an increasingly challenging market. Research is also vital to underpin and expand the markets for timber.”
He added that each project would be expected to deliver some generic output that furthers the use of timber in construction and demonstrate a clear benefit to the general membership or wider timber industry.
The projects should last no longer than a year and be undertaken as a collaborative venture with TRADA.
