ConFor has been lobbying England’s forestry minister on the serious concerns the sector has about increased domestic deforestation.

Huw Irranca-Davies will shortly review the consultation responses on a policy to set a framework for permanent woodland removal in England – a policy on which ConFor has already facilitated expert discussion, including with the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Forestry at Westminster.

“Our meeting with the minister was very timely and was the culmination of concerted and intensive lobbying on draft policy that has raise significant concern across the sector,” said ConFor chief executive Stuart Goodall.

“The minister welcomed the effort we have put into this consultation, in particular suggesting productive ways forward rather than simply dismissing the policy.”
