A new memorandum on the use of red diesel by forestry vehicles on the road has been issued to ensure contractors comply with the law.
The Confederation of Forest Industries (ConFor) worked with the National Farmers’ Union and the National Association of Agricultural Contractors to put together the guidance for agricultural, horticultural and forestry vehicle operators.
The memorandum clarifies how rebated fuel can be used by the industries on the road and offers a clear description of how the law will be interpreted and applied.
“This memorandum is good news for forestry, providing much-needed clarification,” said ConFor chief executive Stuart Goodall.
