A liquidator will be appointed to wind up the Construction Confederation.

The Confederation, the UK’s main representative organisation for building and civil engineering contractors, will be dissolved on December 31, following the passing of a resolution in favour of dissolution earlier this month.

Confederation members had already served notice of their intention to leave. The Scottish Building Federation was the last to member to quit and had been preceded by the National Federation of Builders, which withdrew due to the changing economic climate and because two other members had left to join the UK Contractors Group.

The British Woodworking Federation’s (BWF) membership officially ends on December 31 after serving notice last year. The BWF believed the confederation had increased its focus on the contracting side of the construction industry, whereas the priority of BWF members centred on their role as product manufacturers.
