Weyerhaeuser executives have held talks with Willamette Europe Ltd following the recent merger of the two companies.
Geoff Rhodes, sales and marketing director of Willamette Europe, said the three-month transition period had started and he expected a change in the company name soon.
Integration teams are looking at how best to combine the companies and will make recommendations by early June.
Weyerhaeuser is now the world’s largest producer of softwood lumber and engineered lumber products.
