Coloured timber windows (non-white) made up 47% of TimberWindows.com’s installations in 2008.

French Grey and Cream proved to be the most popular colours for homeowners, with an increasing trend for black. Coloured windows made up 35% of sales in 2007.

Oxford-based TimberWindows.com also said dual or multiple coloured window installations had doubled during the year.

“Since PVCu took off in the late 1970s, the option for most companies has been ‘any colour you like as long as it’s white’,” said managing director Chris Brunsdon. “But colour is making a comeback.”
