The deal, for an undisclosed sum, includes Weyerhaeuser‘s Clonmel MDF mill and sales offices in the UK and the Netherlands.
The Clonmel plant has a capacity of 400,000m3 and employs around 145 people. Approximately 85% of the product is exported to the UK and Europe.
Coillte already owns 100% of the SmartPly OSB manufacturing operation in Ireland, and this latest acquisition will strengthen substantially its role as an industrial producer of wood products. SmartPly also has marketing offices in the UK and the Netherlands.
