UK detectives have travelled to Guyana to investigate the smuggling of an estimated £8m of cocaine found hidden with a timber shipment in Felixstowe.

About 120kg of cocaine was discovered by police and customs officers during the swoop last month. Eight people arrested by police in connection with the haul are due to appear in court on June 16.

Authorities in Guyana do not know how the cocaine was smuggled with the shipment, which was supplied by a number of timber companies.
