Chiltern International Fire has published a revised technical information sheet covering the tests that can be carried out to inspect a material’s reaction to fire.

Reaction to Fire: Testing and Classification includes information on the range of tests that can be carried out to classify a material’s combustibility and contribution to fire growth. This differs from the ability to resist the passage of fire, and can play an important role in quantifying how a fire will develop in the early stages, according to Chiltern.

Insulation, wall linings, ceiling linings and external wall surfaces are among the materials and components that can be tested for reaction to fire.

The information sheet also compares British and European classification standards, and touches on CE marking in Europe.

The sheet is available for free from cif@chilternfire.co.uk or +44 (0)1494 569685.
