A £10m timber frame retail and apartment development across the road from Royal Liverpool Hospital is taking shape.

Chandos Timber Engineering has supplied two five-storey structures for the apartments, which sit on a concrete transfer slab above three shops.

“The plans were orIginally for steel frame, but it proved better value to use timber frame,” said Chandos accounts manager Jay Derricot.

Glidevale’s Protect TF200 vapour permeable membrane was used in the structure.

The two-bed apartments are being targeted at doctors and other hospital staff, because of the close proximity of hospital buildings.
