London-based Ecochoice Ltd plans to fanfare its entry to the UK market at Interbuild, where it will share a stand with the Forest Stewardship Council’s (FSC) UK Working Group.

Ecochoice, founded by Brazilian national Mike Bekin, has been appointed UK agent for Dutch timber supplier WJR Reef Hout, with 70,000m3 of certified hardwood from around the world available ex-stock in Holland.

The company, which also sources from South America, has warehouse facilities at Tilbury stocking FSC-certified hardwood flooring.

Mr Bekin said: “The market for certified timber solutions has grown tremendously in the past year and Ecochoice is specifically geared towards addressing this niche market.”

Ecobuild is looking to offer products through a network of merchants, as well as supply direct to contractors and specifiers.

Mr Bekin said Ecochoice’s link up with Reef Hout also gave the UK market access to OLB (legality independently certified) timbers from Africa, including ekki, iroko and opepe. He said Reef Hout’s African concessions were working towards FSC certification.
