Cei-Bois is using the European Parliament elections and appointment of a new European Commission as an opportunity to communicate its wood industry message.
The organisation, which represents the interests of more than 380,000 European timber-related companies with a combined annual turnover of €269bn, said the elections were a good time to demonstrate how the industry could help Europe achieve its political goals, as well as draw attention to key policy areas which may impact wood industries.
The publishing of CEI-Bois’ memorandum includes requests to European institutions for impact assessments to be conducted prior to new or revised regulations being introduced on the topics of climate change, biomass, the fight against illegal logging, the US Lacey Act and the Industrial Emissions Directive.
