Achieving the CE mark proved a key factor in Brazilian plywood manufacturer Palmasola SA winning a top export award for the third year running.
The Curitiba-based company was awarded the Brazilian Export Award 2004 for plywood exports to Europe, the US and Asia.
The awards, organised by Brazilian timber magazine REMADE – Revista da Madeira, aim to recognise achievement and develop export sales in forest products. Official government figures value total Brazilian plywood/timber product exports at US$3.04bn in 2004.
Palmasola was awarded its certificate of conformity enabling it to CE mark following audits by BM TRADA Certification. CE marking relates to Attestation Level 2+ Structural plywood.
The company has the capacity to produce up to 5,500m3 of plywood every month for wall, floor, roofing and other applications.
