Bringing the timber industry careers message home to young people, careers advisers and the general public are the three key focus points for the committee this year.

Four university and public careers fairs, plus four major wood fairs will be attended, with pan industry support and participation.

The committee is also working with major careers guidance institutes and will combine attending conferences for careers teachers with inserting the “Wood you… work with us?” careers leaflets in the conference packs. A further two events for careers advisers to meet the industry are planned – the first at Arnold Laver‘s Sheffield site and the second at the Weald & Downland Museum.

Two new industry bodies joined the TTF‘s most recent meeting on March 7 – the Builders Merchants Federation and the Forestry Commission. Support for other committee projects has also been offered by the UK Timber Frame Association and the National Association of Shopfitters.
