A conference for timber construction experts from across Europe is to be held in Cardiff to discuss the technology needed to improve timber’s place as a building material.

The event will be hosted by GATE, a project led by the Forestry Commission Wales to promote the use of more wood in construction.

Programme manager Mike Over said GATE was targeting architects, planners and builders. “Our aim is to show how timber, using latest technology can replace many of the more accepted building materials and that local timber can play a valuable role in construction.”

The conference is scheduled for October 4 at the Wales Millennium Centre.
