Canfor is to close its Hines Creek sawmill in northwestern Alberta because of a timber shortage.
The company says it will permanently shut the mill on June 30, 2005 because of insufficient timber to support both Hines Creek and the Grande Prairie plant.
About 90-100 employees will be axed, with the remaining staff in woodlands operations being retained.
