Canadian Forest Products Ltd (Canfor) says 91% of its harvest volume is now certified, following the conclusion of two independent audits in British Columbia.
The latest audits, for Canfor’s Houston operations in the Morice and Fort St John timber supply areas covering 475,000ha, resulted in both areas being recommended for registration to the Canadian Standards Association‘s sustainable forest management standard. Canfor also has forests certified to the Sustainable Forestry Initiative.
President and chief executive officer David Emerson said: “We made a commitment to our customers to pursue credible certification of our forestlands and we are living up to this commitment.”
