Canfor’s sawmills will see lumber production reduced by 66.2 million board feet, while its PolarBoard OSB mill and Tackama plywood plant will will see a decline of 14 million FT2 and 8.5 million ft2 respectively.

The sawmills involved in the cut backs are spread across America and Canada and include those in Vavenby, Polar, Radium, Chetwynd, Grande Prairie, Clear Lake, Fort St John, Daaquam and Rustad.

The Vancouver-based forest products company has said that the curtailments will occur over a six-week period in order to maintain customer service and allow the firm to meet its existing production commitments.
