The expansion has increased the company’s treatment capacity to 145,000m3, making Byko-Lat the largest treating company in the Baltics.

"The main reason for the capacity increase is to have shorter lead times to our customers in Europe," said managing director Valts Kurpnieks.

"The challenging economic environment is pushing everybody to hold smaller stocks so we see that the increased capacity gives us a competitive advantage," said Sampsa Auvinen, CEO of Norvik Timber Industries, Byko-Lat’s parent company.

The Byko-Lat mill at Valmiera also features a planing and further processing factory, a door and window production unit and prefabricated house manufacturing.
