The British Woodworking Federation‘s (BWF) Certifire Fire Door & Doorset Scheme is stressing the critical importance of correct fire door installation procedures in a new publication.
The free fact card, aimed at trade contractors, general builders and construction companies, describes all the relevant reasons behind correct installation of fire doors, along with advice on contacting manufacturers wherever instructions are missing or incomplete.
The BWF says half-hour fire doors may only offer 5-10 minutes’ protection if badly fitted, as smoke and hot gases can pass through gaps left around the frame or between stops.
