More than half the timber windows produced in the UK are now made by members of the British Woodworking Federation (BWF) timber window accreditation scheme.

The total membership of manufacturers, suppliers and installers is now 26, and BWF director Kevin Cubbage said: ‘The bigger the membership the greater the choice available to architects, specifiers and builders.

‘The continuing expansion of the BWF timber window accreditation scheme will also allow the end-user to feel totally confident in the standard of manufacture of BWF Accredited Timber Windows, their performance and the quality of installation,’ said Mr Cubbage.

Mr Cubbage says the introduction of the fully traceable labelling system has proved an inspired move.

‘It is this pioneering attitude that makes manufacturers and suppliers want to become members,’ he added.

Meanwhile, the BWF CERTIFIRE Fire Door Scheme has five new members, bringing the total to 65.
