More than 700 international buyers, manufacturers and architects descended on the Global Buyers Mission in British Columbia to hear about Canadian wood products.
The event, organised by the BC Wood Specialties Group Association at the Whistler Conference Centre, saw BC forests minister Pat Bell acknowledge the challenging times currently besetting the province’s timber industries, but also how innovations in wood are being encouraged.
This includes new regulations that will urge public building projects to maximise wood use.
Among participants there were about 250 international buyers, 100 architects and 200 manufacturers.
The annual event is estimated to bring in million of dollars worth of sales for the Canadian wood products industry.
