The five-tonne diesel-powered trucks were customised to suit Carvers’ needs. The variations include DQ50/12/45 short chassis high-platform machines with a 45m lifting height to improve utilisation and productivity. In addition, two of the trucks have been fitted with two-way catalytic converters to reduce engine emissions.

The DQn50/12/62TV x1 short chassis low platform version provides maximum storage utilisation with a Triplex mast and excellent maneuverability.

All the machines in the fleet are also equipped with an advanced resin-filled pneumatic tyre solution to reduce the risk of punctures.

Carvers operations director Bryan Purslow said before deciding on Bulmor he had looked carefully at the options on the market and visited Palmer Timber to see its Bulmor trucks in action.

“Bulmor sideloaders are a quality, robust design, totally fit for purpose,” he said. “We allowed our drivers to help assess the design and the decision was not just about price. The features ensure that we meet our demanding health and safety requirements including operator comfort, reversing cameras and distinctive signage to enforce a 3m pedestrian zone.”

He added that a long-term maintenance contract would ensure the fleet was always in optimum condition.
