Construction coalition Get Britain Building has launched “Plan B” as it seeks to unite the industry behind a common plan to return to economic growth.

The plan sets out the economic and social benefits of continuing to invest in the construction industry. The “B” stands for Building.

Campaign spokesperson Mike Leonard said there had never been a more important time for the construction sector to unite and make politicians know and appreciate the contribution the building industry could make in the recovery.

“The coalition government is committed to massive spending cuts and tax rises to reduce the massive debt burden,” he said. “Rising unemployment is likely to be one of the consequences of this action and it is for this reason that we believe that having our Plan B is vital for maintaining and creating real jobs.”

Plan B was distributed and promoted at the Liberal Democrat, Labour and conferences in September and will also be at the Conservative conference from October 3-6.
