Average daily like-for-like revenue in Grafton’s UK merchanting division, which includes Buildbase, Jacksons and Selco, was up by 1.7% in the half-year ended June 30, compared to a year ago. The UK merchant business accounts for 74% of group turnover.

Selco improved its coverage of the London market with branches opening in Wimbledon and Old Kent Road, while Buildbase expanded into north-east England with the acquisition of five-branch merchanting business Thompson Building Centres based in Sunderland.

Revenue in the Irish merchanting showed signs of stabilising.

Group half year turnover reached €1.07bn (2012: €1.05bn).
