BSW Timber has awarded its Carlisle sawmill’s three-year £5m haulage contract to Eddie Stobart and AW Jenkinson.

The partners will be responsible for transporting the 190,000m3 of sawn timber produced by the sawmill annually throughout England, Wales and Scotland.

William Stobart, chief operating officer of the Stobart Group, said BSW Timber’s contract was a “significant coup” for the business.

BSW Timber logistics manager Richard Scott described Stobart as a natural fit for its businesses.

Earlier this year Eddie Stobart set up a 50/50 joint venture with AW Jenkinson to source and distribute biomass fuel to the UK renewable energy market.
