Two employees from BSW Timber’s Newbridge-on-Wye mill have skydived in the name of charity.

Receptionist Deana Morris and health and safety officer Wayne Jones took part in the tandem skydive over Swansea to raise cash for the fight against Alzheimer’s.

The pair hope to eventually raise up to £1,000 for research into the disease.

Ms Morris had already completed one skydive in her former home of Australia. “I was more scared this time because I knew what to expect and what was going to happen. It was a tandem skydive so at least we did not have to worry about pulling the parachute cord.”

For Mr Jones, the fund-raising was particularly important. “I recently had to put my uncle in a care home because of dementia, and within six weeks, two of my colleagues have had to put their relatives into a care home for similar reasons. It is something which seems to be affecting more and more people, so the more money that can raised for research the better,” he said.
