BSW Timber has confirmed it will stop the import and distribution of leading modified wood brand Accoya from May 1.
The decision has been made due to a change in commercial focus by BSW towards developing new home-grown timber products, as well as the strength of the euro, which is believed to have made importing the product uneconomical.
BSW was appointed sole UK supplier for Accoya in 2006 by Titan Wood Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the material’s developer Accsys Technologies plc.
“We feel the time is now right to focus on new products inspired by our UK-sourced timber and we are now looking forward to launching a wide range of exciting new development initiatives using locally grown material,” said BSW Timber’s John Alexander.
BSW and Titan are working together to ensure continuity of supply to markets during the transition to a new import/distribution arrangement.
