‘Sitka Spruce: The Amazing Timber Tree’ is the latest book by ‘Tales from Mother Earth’, an organisation that aims to educate and empower children to connect with the natural world in a positive way. Available both as a physical picture book and a soundtracked audiobook, this new story is all about the fantastic benefits of timber, and in particular Sitka spruce. Aimed at children from 3 – 10 years old, the story explains how Sitka spruce is grown in managed forests, how it is harvested and turned into timber, and how this sustainable resource is used to construct the world around us.

BSW Group helped educate author Jenny Bailey on exactly how Sitka spruce is cultivated and the process to turn it into timber. Morgan Sindall Construction also shared its experience on how timber is used in the construction industry.

“Increasing people’s understanding of the importance of British timber is, of course, something that is very important to us at BSW Group,” said Gavin McLaughlin, BSW Group’s head of ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance).

“We absolutely jumped at the chance to be part of this great book that teaches the next generation all about it. We’re huge fans of Tales from Mother Earth and their fantastic work helping children understand the importance of looking after the natural world. We hope that everyone who reads or listens to ‘Sitka Spruce’ will have as much fun as we did helping to create it.”
