Brazilian timber, furniture and forestry fair FEMADE attracted 8,188 visitors from 16 countries during the May 24-28 event.

The show in Curitiba saw 96 exhibitors (2008: 66) display products across 4,708m² (2008: 3,175 m²) of net display space. The number of international companies represented increased from 4.5% to 30%.

A special highlight was a two-day seminar “Sustainable use of wood”, which hosted 137 delegates.

FEMADE, organised by a subsidiary of Deutsche Messe AG, also hosted two international business matchmaking events for the timber industry and the woodworking machinery sector.

The complexities of the wood and furniture industry were discussed at the first Brazilian retailer forum for carpentry and joinery.

The event will become a biennial event from next year.
