More than one million ha of forest concessions in the Brazilian Amazon are currently available, according to the International Tropical Timber Organisation’s (ITTO) latest market report.
The ITTO, quoting Brazilian Forest Service figures, says the seven concessions in the states of Rondonia and Pará have a total estimated timber production of 850,000m³ per year.
The minimum total value of the concessions under a bidding process is more than R$20m a year.
Meanwhile, Brazil timber exports are on course to record a growth in 2010, with veneer and mouldings contributing most to the 11% growth in export values in the first nine months of the year.
Tropical sawn hardwood export volumes were up 4% in the period to 296,145m³.
