Brazil’s exports of wood products fell 29% in August compared to a year ago, according to the latest International Tropical Timber Organisation market report.
The value of exports fell to US$178.7m during the month from US$292.5m in 2008.
Tropical sawnwood exports dipped 37% to 48,000m³ from 69,800m³, while the value of the products dropped 31% to US$21m.
Pine plywood shipments were down 47% in value terms and 31% in volume to 76,000m³. Tropical plywood experienced a 52% fall to 8,800m³, while in value terms the fall was 57%.
