The company manufactures and supplies furniture to nursing and residential homes, universities, housing schemes and high dependency units, as well as manufacturing fully assembled bedroom furniture.

The Uniflex HP supplied by SCM suits the company’s relatively small batch runs, against the set up times of conventional drilling machines, the company said.

Directors Mark and Simon Hives have recently increased production to 51,000ft2 and the company has two Gabbiani beam saws and three edge banders. Mark Hives said that nearly every panel that goes through the factory was drilled.

The main feature of the company’s Uniflex is an additional 14 verticle spindles located within the main drilling head,
"It is dramatically increasing our production capacity with more than 30% savings in drilling panels alone," said Mr Hives.
