Mr Tallant declined to disclose trading figures, but said turnover in the last financial year increased by 17% at the Thornton Road site and the number of employees rose by 30% to 13, including new sales, collection and delivery staff.

And Mr Tallant said that the growth at Thornton Road and the company’s 13-acre trade site in Denholme has been boosted by building work in Bradford.

Mr Tallant added that the staff at Thornton Road, including managers Geoff Thomas and Geoff Fisher, had been instrumental to the growth by focusing the branch on sales and improving quality.
