BonaKemi lacquer has been chosen to protect the pitch pine floor of London’s only surviving Georgian dock warehouse, due to open as a museum this Easter.
Stains and gouges to the original floor of No 1 Warehouse at West India Docks were left in place to retain its character before cleaning and sanding down to 100 grit. One coat of BonaKemi’s Prime was followed by two coats of its Traffic waterborne matt lacquer, the hardest-wearing finish supplied by the company.
The museum is being funded by an £11m Heritage Lottery Fund grant and will portray the 2,000-year history of the Port of London.
