Members of the Builders Merchants Federation (BMF) who experience road traffic legal problems can now receive expert help via a nationwide panel of solicitors.

The BMF is recommending its 270 members use the panel, comprising six law firms specialising in road traffic legislation.

Expert advice can be provided to HGV operators, with representation in court when faced with road traffic prosecutions. Firms can also be represented when they appear before traffic commissioners.

BMF director Jeremy Hawksley said: “Deliveries are a major service provided by merchants, so road traffic issues are a big concern for our members. We are pleased that we now can direct their problems to a panel of lawyers who have specialist knowledge in this field.”

The BMF also offers its own transport consultant who can visit branches and compile a report on fleet and transport issues.
