Merchanting software solutions provider and distributor Blue Rock Systems has purchased Nottingham-based software company Sense Computer Systems for £670,000.

The company also said a major contract with the National Buyers’ Group (NBG) would go live before the end of 2009, which it believes will catapult its software solutions to a bigger merchant audience. NBG comprises 75 member companies with a turnover of more than £750m in the independent builders merchant sector.

Blue Rock sales director Glen Jewell told TTJ that the Sense takeover added 200 customers to Blue Rock, 40% of which are in the merchanting or merchant supplier sector. Blue Rock already has over 100 customers, mostly in the builders merchant sector and 1,300 installations.

Blue Rock, which supplies logistics, warehouse and service software applications under the Intact brand, said the addition of Sense is a “logical expansion” that increases its geographical spread, adds new staff and software.

“This is an excellent opportunity for Blue Rock to expand into the Midlands, which is a key requirement of our expansion road map,” said Blue Rock managing director George Troullis.

“Blue Rock will establish a new business sales team in Nottingham that will increase our turnover to around £4m within 12 months.”
