Kent-based joiner Blades has bought two Striebig vertical panel saws to equip new premises for its luxury property business specialising in kitchens, bathrooms, fit-outs and furniture.

The Compact 5207 models are used mostly to size MDF panels, which are then stained, sprayed or spray lacquered, or covered with leather, suede or a spray-on suede finish.

The saws were supplied with a scoring blade for use with veneered MDF panels and Corian used as kitchen worktops.

Blades also fits out of luxury yachts and is active in high-end office and reception areas for City companies. The company moved into a 6,500ft² workshop on a four-acre site near Maidstone and has since built an 6,500ft² extension.

The saws and Al-Ko extraction units were part of a £100,000 investment for the move, which included a flat bed panel saw, a cross-cut saw and three spray booths.
