Timber garden products have been donated by a Latvian sawmill to Cedar Wood Primary School, Kesgrove.

A lorry load of flat-packed products from the Biko-Lat plant, part of the Icelandic-based Byko group, included 10 benches, timber for 12 sandpits, planting boxes, gates and fencing. The items were shipped free of charge by TTS (Shipping) Ltd and transported to the school by AE Drain (Transport) Ltd.

Biko-Lat made the donation after being told about the school by partner Vida Wood UK, which took part in a timber day there last year. The school is clad in cedar and surrounded by woodlands.

Stefan Eiriksson, sales manager for Biko-Lat in Europe, said garden products were a new area for the company and hoped other schools may see the benefits of timber products.
