Construction firms that made use of a government best practice service have boosted their profits by a total of £362m in the past four years, construction minister Brian Wilson has revealed.
Firms which used the Construction Best Practice service, an initiative born from the Egan Report in 1998, each gained on average 12 working days last year and achieved savings of £3,300.
Mr Wilson said more than 400 company best practice demonstration projects, established since 1998, “significantly outperform” the rest of the industry. This includes achieving an 11% higher satisfaction rating from customers and averaging £10,000 more value added per employee.
Mr Wilson shared the findings at the “Revaluing Construction – The International Agenda” two-day conference at Manchester.
