The company said the new line would have a 110,000m3 sawn capacity on two shifts – 40,000m3 more than the current saw line. The new line, to be opened next year, will concentrate on small diameter logs.
Bergs has three sawmills – in Mörlunda, Orrefors and Järnforsen – producing sawn and planed products.
The Mörlunda mill concentrates on spruce and exports to the UK, Denmark and the Netherlands, while the 180,000m3-capacity Orrefors mill produces pine products for the UK, Sweden, the Middle East and North Africa.
Bergs has a fourth sawmill at Järnforsen which has undergone a reorganisation to increase production.
