The growth of timber windows has helped the Benlowe Group Ltd to record sales and operating profits for the second straight year.

For the year ending September 30, the group, which includes Bennett Windows and Thomas Lowe Joinery, increased sales by 10.4% to £10.3m and operating profit by 32.1% to £1.45m.

Chief executive Clyve Perkin said: ‘We have the right product at the right price and quality; quality is all important to us. The market is very good with a growth of timber windows.’

However, he said the market had quietened since the September 11 attacks.

Leicester-based Bennett Windows is growing its glazing and painting capacity – set to increase by a further 50% during 2002. It is boosting production by acquiring extra factory space and personnel at its Leicester site.

Sales of staircases at Thomas Lowe grew by 12% despite site limitations at Cannock. However, a move during Christmas to a new production site at Brownhills, West Midlands, will boost capacity and allow for future expansion.

New CNC machinery will be installed at the new site during the festive recess and the company will focus 95% of work on the staircase business.
