“The result of the Interzum furniture fair exceeded our expectations in every respect,” said Gerrit Becker, managing partner. “We had over 770 discussions with follow-up contacts and our innovations were also well received by the public.”

“The response was overwhelming,” said Joachim Schelper, development manager, adding that 126 invited designers from all over the world submitted over 190 designs to the contest.

On display were a luminaire, a shelf, a noise reduction wall for open-plan offices and seven unusual chairs. “For each of the exhibited furniture prototypes, several companies said they were interested in production. Now it's up to designers and manufacturers to do business with each other”, said Mr Becker.

The company also presented its new ‘formplus’ production process at Interzum.

“Until now there were limits to the deformability of visible wood, as veneers tear at a certain point,” said Mr Schelper. “With the formplus process we can further shift these limits. This has the advantage for our customers that we can produce seating furniture that is even more ergonomic and comfortable. In addition, the furniture has built-in copy protection, since competitors cannot copy the furniture without this process,” he added.
