More wood is being offered for sale by timber officials in British Columbia in a bid to kick-start economic activity.

Five allocated sales are in addition to eight previous sales, making a total of 152,000m3 of timber since the art of autumn.

Wood is being put on the market at lower prices on the basis of how much it costs provincial officials to make the timber available. Former pricing was based on revenue targets required by the province rather than actual costs.

The lower pricing system is being regarded as a test case.
