AW Champion Ltd has expanded its coverage in the south-east with the opening of a Guildford branch in an investment exceeding £1m.

The outlet, the company’s ninth, features 1,786m2 of space, including a warehouse with timber stock, on-site mill for cutting to specific requirements and a trade counter selling timber accessories such as tools, nails, screws, glues and door furniture. About 3,500 ex-stock timber and wood-related products are on sale.

The company says the majority of softwood on sale is sourced from sustainably managed forests in Scandinavia. Customers can see a document showing the company’s environmental policy, which includes Forest Stewardship Council and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes chain of custody certification.

Timber is further graded and machined at Champion’s Edenbridge mill.

Peter Staynes, Champion’s Guildford branch manager, said: “As at all Champion branches, the emphasis at Guildford is on offering builders a comprehensive and readily-available range of competitively-priced, consistently high quality timber and timber-related products.”
